The Alpacas put a smile on my face! We have been doing this for three years and loving the whole industry from crias to hand spun, hand knit one of a kind items. This is our first year for cria! We have had 8 cria and 4 more to come any day! I was to the AGM in Nova Scotia and as always learned quite a bit and had a blast! I am just so excited that I am able to be part of this Organization. It is so different your first year...who to breed? what is spit off? Like with like? Now I am blessed with some handsome bloodlines and a great lover so thus comes the cria. They truly are the happiness I was looking for and I am just excited because I am learning something each day! They are incredible!

i agree, alot of planning goes into who you will mate your females with, and the delight to see the outcome.
It truely is a wonderful industry.
The alpaca industry to me has opened up many opportunities, travel, and friendship. It has also given us as a family a lifestyle.
Importantly, a mother at home with kids, it has given me the opportunity to contribute to the household income, and yet still be at home to care for the family.

Hey Dawn... and the pay off will be when you start to halter train and they trust you even more or you have to walk around them in the barn they don't bother to get up. This is my third set of cria that I'm training and get the biggest rewards from this fav job. Life is great!
